More Port St. Lucie neighborhoods are getting another option for home and business internet.

Wire 3, a fiber internet provider based in Daytona Beach, announced on Sept. 25 that it’s expanding its Port St. Lucie build plans, citing strong demand from residents and businesses.

The numbers

  • Combined investment in St. Lucie County: $120 million, according to the company
  • Initial Port St. Lucie investment: $12 million
  • Service: 100% fiber with symmetrical speeds up to 10 gigabits
  • Founded: 2021, now serving more than 50 communities, the company says

Wire 3 hasn’t published a list of the new neighborhoods. It says residents and businesses can check availability at its website.

Why it matters for local business

For many small businesses, upload speed matters as much as download: video calls, cloud backups, point-of-sale systems and security cameras all push data out. Symmetrical fiber, and another provider to choose from, can give local companies more leverage on price and service.
